As the song Big Yellow Taxi stated "you don't know what you got till its gone" So with that in mind, I would say absense. People take things they have for granted a lot of the time!

Completely depends on what the "something" is.

You're very likely to notice the presence of a washing machine sitting on your foot for example, and very likely to notice the absence of light at night when you're trying to find a dropped contact lens in a field...

i would notice a presence of cash in my bank as i am quite used to the absense of it!

Depends on what it is.
If it's the presence of a knife in the back of my head then I would notice the presence of it far more than the daily absence of it.
If it's my glasses then I would notice the absence of them because I wouldn't be able to see a blind thing!

That really depends on what it is. I would really notice the absence of my house, but not a few coins from my wallet.
I would really notice if a truck was embedded in the wall of my house, but not a few extra insects in the garden.

defo the absense of something, people get used to something good and dont question where it came from but when something good is gone people kick up a fuss!!!!!!!!!!!!
