Humans did not evolve from monkeys - humans evolved from the same creatures that apes evolved from. This is called the common ancestor. Monkeys are a separate species to apes. Humans are a branch of the ape kingdom and came from the same common ancestor as apes, not from apes directly.

We didn't evolve from apes/ monkeys-- we evolved from the same organism that apes/ monkeys came from. You are looking at it like they are your grandparents, when they are more like cousins.
If you look at the phylogeny (branching diagram of how species evolve and are related) you will see that Humans and Chimps are closely related, but we didn't evolve from each other. We both evolved from a common species about 6-7 million years ago. We are even further related to Gorillas, since they evolved from a separate common ancestor some 9 mya.
Here's a link of a phylogeny so that you may better understand:

Monkey's what?

Anyhow, read about evolution some time. We didn't come from monkys or apes, we came from a common ancestor.

Try again, perhaps with a different question, hearing 10000 people ask the same one in Y!A gets old.

If you type "why are there still monkeys" into the Yahoo answers search window (the same one that was showing when you typed your question) you get

... ooh 11,270 times this question has been asked (and answered)! (Someone should inform 'prettyinpink'.)

Don't believe me? Here are the results:
http://answers.yahoo.com/search/search_result;_ylt=Ah_2cCVR61S5ZX05vtxt92UjzKIX?p=why+are+there+still+monkeys

Why does this happen? Because actually knowing how to use a search box would be "research" ... and apparently you don't get to be a creationist by knowing how to do research before you form a conclusion.

Humans do not evolved from Apes. Darwin never wrote it.
Human and Apes have an common ancestor, many million years ago. (Australopitecus Afaerensis).

Dogs have less than 30.000 years since they left their wild side (Wolves) and you can see how different they are. There are new dogs achieved only in this century. .... then, you can understand how different are humans than its ancestors.

They did not. Monkeys and apes (including humans) descended from Carpolestes simpsoni.

OMG. Why do people ALWAYS ask this question.
Why not research it?? That's what I do when I'm curious about something, then after I research, if I still have questions, I ask.

COMMON ANCESTORS we do not come directly from monkeys, we share a common ancestor. Just look it up.

Evolution means that one of the precursors changed and eventually evolved into men. It doesn't mean they all made the transition.

If I moved from Swindon to Bristol. Why are there still people in Swindon?

Try to learn things. Don't just believe what you're told.
