I am against stem cell research for two main reasons:
Number one: in order to get the stem cell, from the embryo, the embryo must be killed. This is, basically, killing human life for the prospect of saving another.
Number Two: This is one of the most important, yet least known arguments. In all the research that has been conducted on these types of stem cells throughout the world, not a single person has been cured nor any affliction alleviated. Many scientists, even, have said that there embryonic stem cells are too unpredictable and sporadic to be used as any cure.
Why should we waste money and human life in pursuit of this?

Totally for it. with such controversy over abortion & "the loss of life for the fetus",(assuming this is where most of the stem cells will come from) this research can turn something that is viewed as sinful & bad, into something good & beneficial. The embryo will actually end up giving the gift of life back to someone whose has had tadgedy forced apon them, and is close to losing theirs. The notion that man is playing gods role is crazy. Don't we do that each time we try to revive a dying person? Isn't a person dying the moment when god is calling for them.....

Your science is a bit flawed. If you understood it well enough you could see why some could oppose it. The only stem cells that have helped patients so far are adult stem cells and many. Embryonic stem cell research has not helped a single patient." "It has a zero success rate.-0-Nada-None"" (and that is what we are paying for research now--the success rate of the other is grossly under given money for research--Japan is doing better here with a higher success rate. How do we get stem cells from embryos? I am Nuetral.
If I go against it, there will be someone who will die from something which could have been cured from stem cell reserch. If I am pro for stem cell research, I would be endoursing scientists to continue playing god with unlimited powers. Technology is a double edge sword... It can be used for good and it can be abused.

If stem cell research will help people lead better lives or provide cures for existing conditions like Parkinsons, I'm for it. It's not as if the are "killing" someone. I'm also Pro-choice. Great question to make us think about something important. Godloveya.

I am definitely for it. I am diabetic and this reasearch can help me as well as millions of others with chronic illnesses and conditions. I am a 59 year old white female who lives in South Eastern Michigan. I WAS always Republican but several years ago I became more of a Democrat. I do not think this should be a political agenda.

Justification: An embryo isn't a human being. It can't form thoughts, doesn't have feelings, &c. This science shows a lot of promise and should not be hindered by people's beliefs on "souls." I don't believe in souls and as such see no reason why a simple clump of cells is something sacred.

I'm for whatever will help those who are ill to recover. I'm sure God wants us to all have quality of life. He want's us to be happy. I think God understands and that's why he gave us scientists, so we could learn. God understands a lot more than we think. He gives us life, but it's up to us to make the right decision, we've all been taught right from wrong. Helping to make a life better is right.

I think it is worth doing, but the costs should go down, for a procedure that is available to almost any woman who will have a child.
