I do think it's overkill, I hate when stuff like this happens but at the same time he was so wrong to say that over the air about those girls( my heart goes out to them) and i think there trying to make a example out of him so things like this will never happen again.. see if they would have done this to Michael we wouldn't be going through this again.. I think us as black people need to lighten up a little people are going to talk bad about you all the time , what they need to do is stop them rappers from making all those songs that put woman down then take a stand against people like Imus.... I just can't believe he said what he said over the air this is a grown *** man talking like that wow!!

yes, they are making way too big a deal over it! I don't understand what the big deal is. I believe racism is wrong, but I think there are a lot of double-standards in our society. Why does Imus get in so much trouble for this comment, but people can make fun of other races and nobody says a word? "White-N-Nerdy" "Pretty Fly for a White Guy" etc. etc... I'm not saying that what Imus said wasn't in poor taste, but I think it's being blown out of proportion..
by the way.. I'm Italian and my friends always teased me about having nappy hair and I didn't give a crap.. people need to lighten up..

Yes when I surfing last night and CNN, Fox, MSNBC, CNN Headline News were all talking about the same subject.
You would think Imus shot the basket ball team in cold blood, burn a cross on the court, and rode off into the sunset with the KKK flag a flying.

No, I don't think it is. What he said was totally inappropriate-
negative in so many ways- sexism, racism, against woman athletes. This women work hard to excel at a sport, and likely are good students also, and he insults their looks and calls them ho's to boot? He's be lucky if all that happens is that the media bitches- he should be fired. He's an asshole.

Admitting he made a mistake is what caused the overkill.
Had he said, "What? You're offended? Are you kidding me? Jeesh... it was a joke -- I'm a silly comic radio host that makes rude comments -- pay no attention to me."
It would have all gone away. He fueled the fire by apologizing.
