We have such crucial news going on right now in the world like with N.Korea allowing UN into inspect their nuclear weapons and agreeing to shut them down. NOW THAT'S IMPORTANT! Instead of focusing on news like that and the fact that our country is at war, the media is continuously focusing on this jerk off. He apologized and is being punished and he will pay dearly for his remarks but enough already! The Rutgers girls should not let this stupid individual get to them. Actually, they seemed really upset about all the media and I think just want some peace and quiet and want to focus on the postive things in their lives right now like their win. They agreed to meet with him and hear what he has to say and express their feelings. Isn't that enough? I'm so sick of the media really dragging these stories out, aren't you?

We have "insensitive Jerks" in the media because we tolerate them!

If we would just fire them like we should - we would not have to put up with their BS and hate mongering!

Its the same reason why we have so much crime in America!

Because we Tolerate it!

Jenni, I agree 100%--and then some! The US media--ever on the over-ambitious, brown-nosing hunt for that Pulitzer or whatever $$$$ prize is out there for grabs--tragically overdoes stories to biased degrees. And to think the USA is supposed to be a democratic, anti-propaganda country....well, it once was...not any more--and I don't forsee a glorious return anytime soon.

Question: if Imus were BLACK, making the exact same statement, would he be suspended--later fired--for such remarks? Of course NOT: it's OK for BLACKS to free-lip the "N" word; they feel they have exculsive rights to.

That's the thing Al Sharpton doesn't want people to realize!

Al Sharpton: co-mastermind of the Tawana Brawley hoax that could've sparked an entire city into violent racial turmoil...now there's a guy to merit his statements as fact.

Imus is NOT stupid--quite the contrary. A media legend just doesn't make such a careless remark like that....unless he is 1) ready to be released from a miserable iron-clad contract and 2) by same process, show America and the world how frivilous American TV/radio and print media are. I think Imus is well on the way towards proving the #2 point......and CBS CEO Leslie Moonves fell right into the mud-trap.

CBS / MSNBC both went overboard--and THAT's too late to fix, trust me. Imus is free from his contract and made buffoons out of his bosses. I think in protest, ALL US on-air media broadcasters--at the same time nationwide--ought to repeat Imus' imfamous statement. A nation-wide firing of broadcasters would be equal to a disaster on our homefront.

After all....didn't you say something about N. Korea....oops, we let our attention slip; so, what are the bad guys out there doing???

I don't even like Imus, but I think he was trying to make a joke. Furthermore, he's known for being kinda crude and such.

Michelle Malkin today has a great post about what is in rap lyrics, not very different or worse than what Imus said.

And for all the calls he should be fired: free speech? we still have that. Rosie can say "ching chang", Michael Richards should even be allowed to say the "n-word", etc.. What kind of society are we going to have if we start policing what people say?

And the story (like Anna Nicole Smith, Laci Peterson, etc.) is blown waaaaaay out of proportion. Yes, there are far more important things going on in the world, but reporting those requires people to actually learn something. These kind of stories are easily digestable, easily understood, dont take brain power, and in reality, are very "safe". Its easier to talk about Imus and forget about it, than talk about modern sex slavery and know its happening right now.
