Seriously, even though the U.S. won't buy any products from Cuba, Cuba is free to sell anything it produces to Mexico, Canada, Japan, and the European Union countries, so I don't see what the big deal is about the embargo.

Sounds like more let's-blame-America B.S.

I recently viewed a documentary made in Cuba among the people. It is not as easy as you try to make it sound. America uses its influence to try to keep other countries from investing in Cuba. The logic behind the embargo is obsolete at this time except for the fact that America is waiting for Castro to die, so they can install a leader who will do what they want and then they will lift the embargo. Same story, different country. Who would you have them to blame besideds the chief architect of the embargo?

Perhaps, but certainly not as much as having a brutal and oppressive dictator hurts them.

As for investment, it isn't the US that's prohibiting it, it is the fact that no sane investor would pour money into anything inside a kleptocratic dictatorship. Dictators around the world have a habit of nationalizing (i.e. stealing) industries. Dictators don't respect property rights; thus no investments.

And although Eisenhower may have said that, it was before Castro revealed himself as a Communist thug tyrant.

Yes, all the pissing and moaning is just anti-US hubris.

Well we are now selling food and medical items to Cuba. I think it will not be to much longer before we start relaxing more restrictions against them. But I think it hurts them a little because everything has to be imported to them. Also when Castro dies I think you will see a normalized relations with Cuba.

Only the Cuban government has ever hurt the Cuban people.
Won't Fidel ever have the one decency to go ahead and die?

All I know is that Eisenhower said that Fidel Castro was the Abraham Lincoln of the Carribean.

Food for thought.
