Most gifted people do not understand mass humanity. The goals of everyday life seem to be a bother for them, as they have a 'higher' calling. It is not that they are isolating themselves on purpose, but not many people are the same as them. I guaranty most highly intelligent people would love to have someone that can relate to them.

Being with normal people makes a gifted person hurt, because they can see the mistakes that everyone else makes. It is not that they want to be alone, but being around normal people frustrates them.

Also, most gifted people realize they are above normal and are more ambitious because of that. So why would they burden themselves with the drama of other people?

It boils down to this: A true intillectual knows that shaping the mind of one person is irrelevent, while shaping the mind of humanity is more important.

It is a goal that most people will never understand.

A gifted or highly intelligent mind can be a very scattered place. There are many different thoughts, actions, reactions, consequences, and so many other things that are sparked off by one question, one movement, etc. With that much going on in your brain, your response to a person whose brain doesn't work like yours can tend to be "out there" or "confusing", even though there is a logical reason for the answer (as strange as it may seem to the common mind). Unfortunately, most people don't even use their minds, they don't ponder on anything other than sex or money (and they still don't think about those issues enough) and so the intellectual is left in solitude. I mean they could either pretend to be less aware like the general public, or keep to themselves until they find someone who understands them, and that they understand themselves.
It's like people who speak different languages, you may say Hi to each other, but it's unlikely to go any further than that.

Because these people show qualities unique of what we consider, a typcial person. People fear what they don't understand. And sometimes when people fear, they can be cruel. It's really sad when those gifted or tallented people feel the need to hide to protect themselves from the society that treats them like aliens.

And here's something very interesting. There are more and more gifted people than ever. What is happening to them right now? Many of them are being given prescriptions to act "normal". Their gift is being stripped, and they are left damaged all because of those who misunderstood them.

I think that if a person is truly gifted, he or she has a very different, somewhat abstract view of the world. People of average intelligence may find they have a lot in common with each other based on life experience and the way they look at life and solve problems. Average people are too caught up iun the day-to-day perils of life to give much thought to existential or abstract ideas. However, gifted people, predominantly people who qualify as geniuses, spend a lot of time thinking outside the box and pondering topics and concepts that others may find dull or confusing. The result is that many of them are actually quite socially inept. They feel like they don't fit in with other people because they are used to getting strange looks and responses from "normal" people who don't quite get them. As a result, I think they tend to become withdrawn and keep to themselves. It's sort of a handicap, I bet, being a genius...

We are not all gifted equally.
Some of the most gifted excell in only a couple of areas, but lack excessively in some of the more social areas, feeling misunderstood or inadequate.
