Can you imagine the progress that would have been made in the past 7 years if we had a thoughtful, insightful leader in the White House, instead of one that has split America in 2 halves?

I think Neville Chamberlain tried that route.

Didn't that work well?

War should be avoided if the alternative is better. Sometimes fighting is the only option left.

It depends. Churchill certainly didn't think so when the appeasers failed to militarily check Hitler while Germany was still a growing military power.

This is because Jaw Jaw only works with nations and governments that are interested in peace. For the slower and more obtuse members of the YA community - Iran, Syria, etc are NOT interested in peace, like Saddam wasn't, like Hitler wasn't.

When you Jaw Jaw with belligerent nations, they see this as weakness on your part, because it means you're unwilling to take the necessary action to stop their machinations.

Look at all the UN Jaw-jawing with Sudan. The slaughter rages on in Darfur, unabated, no? This is an object lesson, as were the Munich Accords, in the limitations of negotiation, if your mind is open to learning.

I can imagine how much more quickly the war could be won if our Liberals would stop mis-quoting Churchill.

If Churchill had been about "jaw jaw," Israel wouldn't exist. Maybe that's your idea of a good thing. Not mine.
