whats the point of showing american idol here (UK) if we dont get the chance to buy the music...i loved ruben and fantasia. are they still popular in america?

well some of the idol's albums are on amazon.com to buy. I bought 4 from there. Maybe the americanidol.com website may have some info for you also.

It's all about marketing them to an international audience. I'm sure their records will eventually be released in the UK. Plus it shows how important the UK entertainment industry is. I saw American Idol the other for the first time in ages and I think that most of the acts are a little low rate - but still loads more talented than the drivel that ends up on XFactor.

Whats the point in the programme full stop. It is only worth watching when it's the auditions for the laugh. If the singers that get through were any good in the first place then surely they would not need the programme to be able to get a record deal.

I don't watch it, it's bad enough watching British Pop Idol, all those squeeky and out of tune voices, puts me about. I know that i have no good singing voice and i would'nt embarrass myself going on tv in front of millions sounding like that.

It is an entertaining programme though, in fact more entertaining than the X factor.
