Does congress know something they're not telling to catch Bush in a pack of lies? Why were some of the documents blacked out?

This is a common game. The Constitution has given Government, just like the People, rights and one big right is Separation of Powers.

Each branch, Executive, Justice and Congress stands their ground on it.

If the FBI wanted to investigate Congress or a Congressman, Congress would put up a stink and the FBI would have to get a warrant. This happened once when the FBI walked into the office of a Member of Congress and started boxing up documents.

The same things applies to Congress in Investigating the FBI or Justice Department.

The funny thing here is the Courts are part of the Justice Department and Congress has to deal with the Courts to try someone in the Justice Department or to get a Subponea.

This is sort of like the Fox asking the Rooster for permission to inspect the Hen House.

When Congress passed the Freedom of Information act, they exempted themselves so the ACLU can't ask for congressional documents.

Documents provided can be blacked out for Personal Privacy issues on people (such as Whistle Blowers protected by law) and for National Security Reasons.

To get the full documents and with no black out requires Court action. The court then reviews the unblacked items and decides if blacking is in the Insterests of the Country or the Law or not.

The President is powerful to influence anybody regarding the presentation of documents in the Gonzales case.

The subpoenas are issued because the White House will give nothing without them. They black out what is considered top secret or a person must have high security clearance to read those parts. Idk if congress knows something we dont -probably!

The white house has handled this whole thing so stupidly I wonder if they sit around and ask who has the dumbest idea and act on it.

When you start lying to someone then of course they no longer believe anything you say. So they want all the information. This whole thing is a self inflicted wound.
