You already know the common denominator: x-1

So
12x / x-1 - 12 / x-1 =
(12x - 12) / (x-1) =
12(x-1)/(x-1)

You can cancel out (x-1) because it appears on the top and on the bottom so the answer is just

12

Hope this helps.

the answer is 12 because if you take out 12 and (x-1) common from numerator and denominator respectively then you will be left with (x-1) and after cancelling out you will be left with 12

12x / (x - 1) - 12 / (x - 1)
= (12x - 12) / (x - 1)
= 12(x - 1) / (x - 1)
= 12
