My three choices:
Gold Coast
Orleans
Las Vegas Club (downtown)
I would check the rates at all and go from there. I've been to Vegas over 30 times and split my visits between these 3 hotels. I would say Gold Coast has the best beds but the rooms have a small bathroom. The Orleans rooms are a little larger than normal and they have a great buffet. Vegas Club has awesome slots but there's not much choice when it comes to restaurants. Another thing, if you're not renting a car, Gold Coast and Orleans each have a shuttle that runs to/from the Strip. Vegas Club is downtown but it's only $5-$10 to take a cab to the strip.

Agreed. The Orleans. But closer to the Strip, try the "Gold Coast" (behind the Rio) same ownership than The Orleans. On the Strip try the Barbary Coast (don't know when ownership's change will take effect, from Coast Casinos to Harrah's). I use to pay $60.00/nite (The Barbary Coast is located accross the street of Caesar Palace, Bally's and Bellagio) There are the four hotels in this major street corner.

I would have to say the Plaza. It is downtown on Fremont St. and was a great place to stay off the strip. The downtown environment was so much fun and it is close enough to the strip that it only takes a few minutes on a bus. The Plaza itself was very clean and nice rooms, they also offer alot of comps and deals on rooms.

I couldnt tell you about prices but i stayed in New York New York. Its located next to MGM Grand and is pretty much down one end of the strip. I don't think it is extremely expensive but it was clean and the service was excellent. It has a link straight into MGM which i find peace of mind as it was myself and another female. It is also closer to the airport if that helps

South Point. It is down on the south side of the strip, it is really nice and really cheap. And it has a movie theater, bowling alley, and some nice restaurants...oh, and a great little spa :)

the Orleans.... Hands Down!
this is the best overall experience in Vegas....
big, friendly, fun, clean, & cheap!!!
theres a bowling alley, movie theater, over a dozen resturants
pools, spas, tons of loose slots, and lots of other gambling...
there is also a free tram which runs every 20 minutes

The Orleans, hands-down.
But consider downtown. Cheap rooms and good gambling, and you don't walk your feet off.
