I was told by the pediatrician not to give babies anything other than milk and formula until after six months. Their intestines are not developed enough to handle the complexity of solids, I would not give her any solids until her doc gives you the ok.

A 3 month old baby is not ready for solids. Her stomach is stuill very sensitive and she will not be able to hold onto solids. Fruits and other food stuff like that also counts in solids. I started my baby on solids at 5 months old and that too was just rice cereal for 2 weeks and then other cereals. I started jarred foods and fruits and vegies only after 6 months. a child should not be given solids until they can sit up by themselves unless there is a medical reason. A reason for stomach aches may be solids. since they don't get digested easily so it may make a problem in their stools also. I strongly suggest not giving anything besides formula for the first 4 to 5 months.

She shouldn't be having any solid food yet. Most pediatricians are at least in agreement that at 4 months they should have rice cereal, but no baby food until 6 months. If you're feeding your child baby food already, and she has a stomach ache, then the food might be the problem.

You can try solids at four months but many have not lost the tongue thrust reflex until closer to six. Your baby will tell you when she is ready. When they really start to show an interest in the food you are eating it is usually time to start solids. Until 12 months old, solids are not really intended to meet the nutritional needs of your baby, that is still done by breastmilk or formula. The purpose of solids is only to get them used to eating, so please continue regular bottle feedings. And don't put cereal in the bottle. This only leads to obesity.

Well First and Foremost Is your daughter ready for solids? Does she show any type of signs that she is interested in more than just breast? I've read alot about when and when not to give solids to infants and I just read that they say that most won't need solids until they are almost a year old. I find that hard to believe given that babies are growing and so won't their appetites. I started my daughter on rice cereal first. She was about 2-3 months old. I only started that early because formula wasn't holding her over to the "usual" time frame, and she was spitting up frequently. The cereal helped with that. Start small, mix 1 tablespoon of rice cereal with little bit of breast milk or water. I added some jarred fruit to the cereal just because rice cereal seemed to taste really bad by itself. Are you preparing your own fruits and veggies or buying? If you are buying Gerber makes stage 1 fruits and veggies perfect for starters. Remember, If you start one fruit or veggie, use it for at least 5 days to a week to rule out any allergies. Also being as young as she is, i'd start small, you can just give her cereal and her fruit in the morning, along with the breast. I also heard but did not find it to be true is that they say to start out with veggies first not fruit. I guess infants get used to eating the " sweeter" stuff and will reject the bland stuff later. So I hope this helped!!

Babies don't need solids until 4 to 6 months of age. Breast milk has all the nutrients babies need. For babies who are not breast fed, iron-fortified infant formulas provide complete nutrition for babies.

Sometimes solids given too early can cause food allergies. The foods are not digested properly by young infants. Then the baby's body treats them as "foreign bodies" by producing an allergic reaction.

NOTHING.

All she should have at this age is breastmilk or formula, per the AAP. She is not old enough for anything else yet. Her tummy doesn't have the enzymes needed to digest anything other than breastmilk or formula. Solids aren't recommended until around the middle of the first year. Starting solids prior to approx 6 mos of age increases your child's risk of allergies, diabetes and obesity.

Around 6 mos of age you can start your baby with either rice cereal or bananas.

i did not fee my daughter solids until she was 4 months..and i only gave her rice cereal. She would eat it with a spoon 2 teaspoons with a little bit of formula mixed in the make it soft. when i was in a hurry i would put it in a bottle (yea i know but sometimes everyone is lazy, did not do it but a few times) 2 teaspoons to two ounces of milk. After she was six months i started her on veggies (3 teaspoons once a day maybe lunch or dinner) any questions email me!!

I have had three babies. I was told to start introducing it about 4.5 months. One thing that has to be remembered here is that they are still developing and can not tolerate to much too fast!

You may only need to give the little one an extra bottle of formula, her little system may need more and that may be all they need for the time being!

You must introduce new foods gradually. If it is too thick it can cause chooking. They have never had to swollow thickness so you must be careful.

My oldest seemed so hungry at about 3 months, What I did was put small amount of formula with my breast milk and used a nipple that had more flow to it like the next step up. It seemed to help her alot. then increased it at a slow rate that she could still get it from a bottle.

Another thing I did was get the earlest stage baby food from a jar. I would put a little on my finger tip and let my daughters get it off my finger, ot get it on their tonge, this way it was such a small amount you can see how they do with thicker food. Also taking it from your finger instead of a round spoon is much easier at this age. Plus it is a slow, easy way to teacj then how to handle the food in their mouths, you can see them work their tonges and swallow. As they do it more you can see their improvement. When you can see that they can handle and swallow food like that then itis easier to start adding more solid foods to them.

To keep them with less stomach aches, only intorduce one food at a time, plus you should always do this to see if they may have an alergic reaction to a new food. I have been told to never give your baby strawberries nor peanut butter until they are 1 year old because of alergic reaction. And foods that contain alot of sugar can cause belly aches, and yes prepared baby food can hold alot of sugar!

For baby gas, they have a drop that is made of Simethicone, it is very helpful for upset little tummies!

But with all the advise here, never do anything if you feel uncomfortable or too scared with! Ask your doctor. If your state offers WIC (Woman, Infant and Children) Program they too can help you!

And they do need more than just breast millk or formula with in the first year! Ask your doctor that! And I will say to Jennifer, I am far from lazy and did put ceral in my babies (all three) bottle and they are all three in great health! 16 yrs, 8 yrs and 5 yrs old! Not sure how that is lazy! Breast feed all three and felt they needed a little more! LAZY?? Na just being a mother is more like it! There are many many different options on raising babies and to insult people and call them lazy is rude and showes your inteligents to all of us here! LOL

Follow your doctors instruction and follow your heart! You know your baby better than anyone. If you are worried wait a bit longer.

This was a very good quesation!

Good luck with your daughter!

babies don't need anythign except beastmilk or formula for the first year of life. most are interested in solid foods before that, however, most babies tummies are not ready until they are at least 8 months old. the earlier you start solids the greater risk of food allergies, obesity and diabetes.
and don't listen to suggestions to put rice cereal in a bottle. if your baby is not able to eat it off a spoon they are not ready for it, that or the parent is to lazy to sit and feed the baby

I don't think she should be on any solid foods yet at all. Her body is not set up to take that on. Now, you might be able to mix a little bit of cereal with her formula to help keep her filled up, but it would be able to still come out of the nipple of the bottle, so very little baby cereal in it. What does her doctor suggest?
