The constant bickering between the Republicans and Democrats might lead to Civil War.

There are several think tanks which have postulated potential causes of a civil war within the United States. Visit your local college political or history department for some good advice on where to read some of these reports.

relatives, only instead of grand-parents it is great, great grandparents (in my case.) This partisanship has been handed down as is evident in the frequent arguments here over the causes of the war, with one particular side almost always traceable to ancestry. The Civil War is the first photographed war. In the same way that WW2 is the first major war to be heavily filmed, the civil war is the first to be photographed. People like visuals of carnage. The tactics of WW2 are just as alien to current wars as the tactics of the civil war. Stop and think how few of the same tactics are in current use. Air power alone has made radical changes. They both do involve a great number of innovations, which saw testing for the first time in battle. The level of carnage. In sheer numbers, it is still the largest American War. I would like to make a statement about the civil war being less respected. It is less well known to the average movie goer and protest sign writer, who are in the third generation of NAZIS and Hitler being portrayed as the ultimate evil. However, among amateur historians the civil war is still one of the most popular events in history, over shadowing the Revolutionary war for instance. The number of re-enactors for instance is at its highest for the Civil War, they've dominated for almost fifty years since the centennial of the war brought the first sales of replicas. The WW2 people don't come close. Among amateur historians and collectors, it is a toss up among WW2, the Civil War, and the Old West. In the sci-fi category, the civil war seems to still be the most popular "what if ..." alternate worlds theme since H Beam Piper used it in one of his early stories. Admittedly WW2 is second to this, the people who read these seem obsessed with militarist and racists regimes winning.

I think the possibility of a civil war goes a lot deeper then democrat and republican.

When you have a tyrannical government in place, it is your duty as an American to remove them. The more people that realize this, and realize that our country is being ran like a fascist dictatorship, the higher the chance of this becomes.

If this DOES happen, it will most likely be regular citizens against the government and the few supporters it has left. It will not be right vs. left.

Don't let it shock you one bit, if before the election some big terrorist attack happens and Bush steps in and stops the elections.

The political divide is growing steadily within the country and is apparent with every American issue. The first centered on owning slaves while the potential now exists by the way of a variety of topics.

We are in a civil war right now. Between the rich and the not rich. Trouble is the not rich aren't fighting.

With all the controversy over immigration laws for
people who want to move here from Mexico, it
would be possible--even if not perfectly probable--
for history to repeat itself: the so-called "Spanish-
American War" was the successor to the Civil
War and preceded WW I.
