Well, your computer looks to be very slow .
You should increase your ram, hard disk space and may be the processor. But if you dont want spend money then there are several option for you.
You can use a registry cleaner. It cleanes up crap like temperory files, offline pages etc. The best is Ccleaner and can be obtained from http://www.ccleaner.com . On the first use it freed my computer space of around 1gb.
Other options are freeing up space by right clicking the c drive icon in my computer and clicking disk cleanup, it also frees extra space. You can also use the disk defragment option in start menu
->accesories->system tools->disk defragment.
Do remove unneccesory softwares, games, music, documents etc
Best of luck!!!

If your computer has room then put in more RAM and now one gig is not toomuch.

Keep your machine clean by getting rid of things you do not need. You can put a lot of what you have on disc and free you computer fr other things.

Hard drive now should be 200 and soon it will probably be mire.

Much of he new things coming to computers require a lot of machine. Watching TV on the computer for one. Some of the new movies. Many gmes being made now.

You might cnsider getting a new machine before ling and get a lot when you do. Duel core processor at least two gigabyte RAM 200G hard drive a very good top of the line graphics card and sound card. Multipurpos disc reader and burner. The mosr the better.

Not easy to keep up with what is hapening with computers.

I would say the ram probably would be the first thing to look at. Especially since you only have 256mb of ram. When the ram is gone, it borrows from the hard drive which is why you would be seeing the cpu usage increase. The program may not actually hang, however because its writing to the hard drive, it takes longer to perform operations; thus giving the appearance of hanging.

Now is the time to add more RAM. Prices have gone down considerably. So are hard drives, they are so cheap now.

If you really want more speed, sell or trade in your Celeron for a Pentium 4 (of the same socket type) of the same speed or higher depending on your budget.

you can increase the RAM, but first go for Disk Defragmenter and Disk Cleanup. Both found in Accessories->System Tools
