i do! it makes bland watermelon sweet, in the same way it makes sour pineapple sweet, by applying a basic substance (NaCl) to something acidic, you form a base which taste more acceptable than acid =) Putting salt on watermelon and pineapple is very popular here in the philippines. Try it! my first reaction to that idea was Yuck! but when i was force fed watermelon/pineapple with salt, i loved it ever since

i put salt on almost everything, but on a cold watermelon salt is delicious. so to answer the Q, yes

i can't eat a watermelon any other way, my husband thinks i'm gross. but it just doesn't taste as good w/ out it.
