If the baby is a primate (including human) the I believe the answer would be that it is not possible for two reasons.

1) Assuming that the birth is a still birth, then death could have happened previous to the date of birth and for a primate that would put the date of conception as April or March at the earliest.

2) If it happened today with the ability to freeze embryos, it is possible that dead embryos could introduced in into the uterus and the death of that embryo was January (however that would be very bad medicine and you could likely sue the doctor for malpractice). However given this is 1958 the technology to do this was not available.

Therefore for primates this will not be possible.

However for Elephants and larger Quadrapeds (and assuming a still birth) this is possible as the gestitation period is up to 624 days.

That's an odd question.

On one hand, if a baby is born 8 months premature, it would be only 1 month post-conception. This is impossible since a 1 month old embryo couldn't really even be born.

Another take is that you have a typo, and you mean to write "a baby is born at 8 months gestation, prematurely, ... "
I don't know for sure, but maybe this would have been possible - the baby was conceived about September 1957, died at 4 months in January, but wasn't born until May when it had been in utero for 8 months. I don't think this is very likely though = I expect that a baby that dies in utero would be stillborn fairly soon afterwards. But I guess you could ask an OB to know for sure.

Lastly, I think all the answers have taken a Western approach to the question. Perhaps you are asking about re-incarnation? Maybe you mean to ask if someone died in January 1958, could they already be reborn after only 4 months instead of a full year? I have no answer to that, and I guess you would have to ask a religious thinker that question.

Good luck!

A baby 8 months premature is not a baby but a foetus. Does it mean that he was due on the 15th May 1958, but was aborted 8 months earlier? If he was born premature in May, in January of the same year (1958), he had not even been conceived yet.....

No of course it's not possible. The loss of a 1 month pregnancy is physically not much different to a very heavy period - you wouldn't even be able to tell what sex the foetus was.
