For pop music Elton John...For slower mood music Cat Stevens. I think both performers were great in their own way. Early Cat Stevens was in myopinion the best he ever did .. Mona Bone Jackon I think was his best album.

Tough one but I give my vote to Elton John. He is one of those artist who's legend just keeps living on. He is a very talented musician.
