It's strange to me. If Bush is so concerned about Iran having nuclear arms (even though they can't prove this), then why is he totally OK with North Korea not only having them but detonating them?
NK is a country ruled by a madman as well, the difference being they have openly defied Bush by firing test missiles into the sea. Yet there is no outrage or threats when they do this.
If you ask me (and predictably I will get loads of thumbs down now).. Bush is just itching for any excuse to go into Iran. Like you say the 'evidence' for WMDs in Iraq was a complete lie, and just an excuse to go into the country. This is no different.
It's sad really, because I can see the gullible majority falling for their BS all over again.

The claims you mention accusing that the US made false statements about Iran's nuclear ambitions. Is totally ridiculous and asinine, those claims were made from the UN IAEA inspectors there who reported the enrichment and centrifuges. And the US is all out to secure all of our interest and allies there in the Middle East. Not to forget other countries like Pakistan, Saudi's , and others who are also concerned about this and is a part of the coalition for disarming Iran

The reason is that Iran doesn't pay attention to America that claims to rule the whole world and expects every country to obey. Iran won't obey America. The U.S. thinks completely irrational! they don't believe in countries' independence and freedom. If the U.S. has the right to have nuclear weapon, then Iran does, India does, Germany does,... . what difference is there between different countries degree of freedom?
if nuclear weapon is threatening the mankind race and shouldn't exist then why the U.S. and Israel do have it? why havn't they joined the NPT? why do they ignore things they set as rules? If some countries are more dangerous to have the weapon , then which country is more dangerous than the U.S. itself and Israel that almost all the wars happening in the world directly is started by them or are indirectly led by them? and what country more peaceful than Iran?
They wanna restrict everyone but themselves.
Although there is no sign of producing nuclear weapons by Iran and nothing has been proved about that pakistani man's selling weapons to Iran , I believe Iran does have the right for producing it at least to be able to defend itself infront of the U.S. and Israel that are indeed a threat that have that dangerous weapon.

I agree with you that the harsh stance doesn't get anywhere with Iran. The US has tried that for 20 years and it only strengthens their resolve.
As for the Iranian claims that they only want nuclear power for civilian purposes, ask yourself:
- Why do they not agree to inspections like every other country with a civilian nuclear program? The prolifiration agreement states you can develop nuclear power but not weapons. Why do they not develop their nuclear power under that agreement?
- They have unbelievebly large oil and gas reserves. How come they need nuclear power?
- What about the statements that Israel should be 'wiped off the map'? How does that fit into nuclear ambitions?

If you are a Retired US Sailor then you should be aware of the threat Iran poses to the United States. If Iran was after Energy [the Nuclear type] then they would let the IAEA in to see what they were up to.
If you are a retired US sailor then you agree that we give them enough rope to hang themselves. As soon, as they get a pile going or produce a "Nuke", then you know that their Countries name becomes a new acronym for Glass.

The by-product of nucleare power generation, enriched plutonoim, is needed to produce nuclear weapons and nobody in the world needs nuclear power. This state of affairs does however present a convenient pretext for any country thinking about invading an oil rich nation and looking for an excuse to do so.

There seems to be one rule for some countries in relation to nuclear energy and one rule for others. I have no particular respect for Iran or many other middle eastern states, as they seem to be entrenched in the dark ages, but that is no excuse for interfering in how they run themselves.
If they want to produce a nuclear weapon they must understand it would only be for showing off because to use it or make it available to terrorists would result in their annihilation.
My understanding is that Iran is a financial basketcase and would be better off trying to move into the 21st century, and improving conditions for their own people.

Your pro-Iranian position is difficult to understand. Do you honestly believe your own words? You mix in things that many will agree to, along side of an irrational end state. Everyone will agree that any country has the right to do what it wants for the betterment of its own people. But most, if not all people will agree that in Iran's case, they are not on this path at all.
Everyone knows that Iran is not seeking nuclear reactor power for making electricity. They don't need this because they have all the oil they could possibly use for making electricity.
They are enriching bomb grade fuels, far beyond what is necessary for reactor use. It's obvious that they are seeking to make their own nuclear weapons. In doing so, it will be there undoing.
The wacko leader they have has repeatedly stated that he wants to be the instrument of Armageddon. He wants to strike down the "beast known as Israel" once and for all. I guarantee you that as soon as he gets his first bomb, they will launch an attack against Israel and like I said, it will cause the complete destruction of their society when they do this.

If you were a high school science teacher then you would know that Enriched Plutonium is not needed for nuclear reactors but is needed for Nuclear Bombs.
Irans support of Islamic Militants and it's pursuit of Nukes threatens many peaceful nations and USA position is well justified.

Well, that's a statement, what's your question?
Aside, the man is right: How would the US feel if any other country would tell them what to to and if they can have nuclear power - for what ever reason?
Wouldn't they - quite rightly, point out that they are an independent country and are that the other country should mind their own business?
