Some of these answers are very strange as if some people didn't understand what I asked.

i think its beacause the laundromat dryers get hotter and the holes help them cool down better and for all the lint maybe.at home you dont put as much laundry in the dryers so the dont have to get as hot but they also dont dry as fast as the other dryers im not really sure but that my best guess

The residential dryers usually have holes in the center of the drum instead of in the circumference of the drum.

There has to be some kind of holes in it to allow air hot air flow. Otherwise your clothes wouldn't dry.

Because we payed an arm and a leg for them. We continue to pay for them with the water and electric bills.

they dont get as hot, so dont need the ventilatioh
