I'm no expert, but i did take some medical classes, and it sounds like your husband might have peripheral vascular disease or other. you should consider researching on-line any possible illness by the symptoms you've described @ webmd or healthline just to name a few.
however to make sure you get the best results from your physician, ask as many possible and logical questions you can think of.
i know it is very scary but it is important to be cool about the situation, you'll get better results from the doctor by staying claim. don't be afraid to ask questions if you don't understand something, just to get a full explanation in plain English is very important and will help your husband 100%.
make sure the physician run any possibility tests on your husband, which are blood and urine/fecal specimen tests.
i wish you the best of luck and god bless.

My dad is with Bupa so his treatment was fast. He had been getting pains in his legs. Sorry i don't know if it was numbness but it had made him fall over a few times.
He was sent for a scan which found a slipped disc in his back during this scan they also found a 1inch unknown growth within he spinal column that's been pressing on nerves. He has to see a specialist tomorrow to see if they know exactly what it is.
Your husbands condition could be serious, keep pushing for it to be checked properly most doctors just brush these things off. If my dad hadn't been with Bupa this would maybe never have been found. Good Luck.

There are many possible causes. The first 2 that come to my mind are however both easy to test for.
B12 deficiency
Diabetes.
2 simple blood tests no doubt already performed by your GP before referral would however have excluded these. Assuming this is, as it should be the case, rarer causes will need a secondary care physician to exclude them.

This is a serious situation. Contact the GP right away and find out what happened to that referral. Your husband needs medical attention now.

Go back to the doctor and explain it is getting worse. Keep pushing for answers and that referral to hospital.
Unless a doctor answers this question then don't trust any other answer on here.

If it were me I would just go down to A&E and tell them you're really worried.
He will be seen right away.
