The laptop is a 14inch gateway that a bought one year ago. I've been happy with the laptop up until it broke one week ago. I'm not sure if its worth paying the money to fix or not. I really can't decide. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

New laptop meaning the same one or a different one.
I would choose the new laptop. Sometimes a fixed laptop is not always fixed right. If you buy new laptop u will get 1 year warranty from specific company.

Or touch the manufacture and ask them approximately your problem. they might can charge you a fee to interchange it or inform you which you're out of success. the problem is that when a producer assembles your computing gadget, they purchase their areas at a bulk fee. in case you attempt to purchase a single ingredient, you pays retail. that would o.k. be better than your computing gadget is worth.

depends on what is in the laptop you cracked if the ram, processor, and hard drive are big enough for you just fix it and if it isn't then buy a new one because new is always good if you buying new buy a Toshiba they are awesome laptops

It is not worth to fix it. because you purchase this one year back. now you can sell this and purchase a new one with new features.
