As one can bet a lot for match fixing.
Joke apart.

Over the years, cricket has become a most popular game in India. As the popularity of the games goes on increasing, number of people showing interest started increasing and today the game has become most popular in India. Other than this, I do not find any specific reason why cricket is being loved by large number of people.

In cricket there was only one chanc for batting, but in other games not like that they can put another goa; in remaining 5 or 10 min.
I think cricket is a very technical game than others.

Forecast of the result in cricket is most difficult, it has ups and down at every stage of the match, it has thrills, excitement at every stage of the match. Moreover the person forgets his own worries at the time of seeing the match and that too for maximum period(time) compared to other game of sports, the people have choice of his own liking and disliking of the player/team and hence he can select team/player as per his liking and can react as per his performance and hence cricket is most loved.

It is played for long time. It is highly publicized by media. In cricket a batsman can be out by many ways. The shots , drives , pulls , strokes & bowling have many varieties. Its uncertainty & chance dependence of results make it very interesting. Its rules too are full of interests. Maximum scientific analysis is involved in various parts of this game. Slow motion show on TV from different directions made it most popular. It is played by most people even in streets , lanes & by lanes in most parts of the world, particularly in South Asia i.e., it can be played by poor people too with a bat & a ball of any kind( easy & cheap basic requirement to play) to become a world class player. Its basic rules are simple to be followed by even illiterates.

Cricket has a large following only in countries like Indian, Pakistan, Sri Lanka. Maybe it's just because we don't have any outstanding performers in the other games like Hockey, Football and any other games.
The rest of the world has baseball, ice hockey, tennis to name of few.

First thing it is not loved by all. There are cricket haters and also people there without knowing what is cricket.
The game is generally loved because of its easy access, you can just have a ball of paper and a room will be enough to start your game.

It isn't most loved by all. Football has far, raf more followers. There is probably far more baseball fans than cricket fans.
