In the book of Genesis, God mentioned to Noah that he may partake of all animals (meat) but not the blood (which is why Jews and Jehovah's Witnesses have their beliefs) except for animals with cloven hooves.

I can't specifically answer that regarding the number, but consider this:
When the Israelites were wandering in the wilderness God gave them manna to eat. This evidently was similar to bread.
But he also gave them quail to eat. This is similar to meat is it not? AND it was given by God - seemed OK with him then.

I don't remember it ever being mentioned. They used sheep for sacifice and they ate alot of fish
