Ha ha. I'm guessing you're asking this because you spill gas on your car often when you fill up at the gas station. I good tip is to keep the tip of the gas nozzle facing up until it is close to the gas hole and poor any excess gas in like your pouring a drink. Then when you take it out, lift the hose connected to the gas nozzle and the pump up so its higher than the nozzle. That way gravity takes care of the rest of the fuel in the hose so it won't spill on your car. Don't wiggle the nozzle to get the fuel out because that may lead to a spark and ignition. This idea also gets the most fuel out of a visit to the gas station.

As for when you do get gas on your car paint, it shouldn't do anything unless the paint is not coated with enamel or some kind of protective layer. If it only has a base coat of paint, the paint will become discolored. You can most likely tell if it has enamel or top coat if it's shiny.

Gasoline disinigrates the wax that protects the paint. It probably won't effect the underlying paint as long as the clearcoat sealer is still in tact. This happens on motorcycle tanks frequently. Just be sure to reapply wax after a gas spill. P.S. Bowling alley wax stands up well to gasoline. I use it on my motorcycle tank for this very reason.

If you leave it to dry, clear coated or not, it will stain. Leaving the paint looking faded. Best thing to do is a quick detailer w/ a clean MF towel and wife using little or no pressure on the paint.
P.s if its not for the car, be careful with it.

If left on there it will screw up the paint. Use some water and clean it off.

Give it a bath and then re-wax that region or better, give the entire car a fresh wax job.
