Manual transmission (stick shift) is still available in cars.
It has a range of advantages.
If you drive properly you get better fuel consumption.
More fun to drive
Cheaper...yes I know when you buy a car Auto and Manual are the same cost, but when your Auto transmission needs replacing your will see the difference in price.
However Automatic transmission is becoming highly popular (and has been for many years). The new car dealer can order you a car with every feature you want, including color and transmission.

I work in an auto assembly plant...and yes, we still build manual transmission vehicles. Most all companies still offer manual trannies, but many people prefer the convenience of an automatic. Performance enthusiasts will always prefer a stick, as do many racers. But with trends in the industry, it is more common to find autos on a dealer lot, and some companies even charge more for a manual trans.

They are still considered factory equipped standard, but alot of dealers buy more cars that have an automatic simply because not alot of people can drive a stick and that only gives them a small market for them to sell their product. where as automatics can be sold to stick drivers and non-stick drivers alike.

Yes. Lucky they do. You can get better mpg and the transmissions in most cases last longer.
