Chris Rock and other black entertainers will say the same things and they get laughs and huge paychecks. Black girls and women are fine with rap stars calling them degrading names and buy their CD's. If blacks can insult black women, so can whites. If not, that's discrimination.

There is a Scripture verse that states it is not what man puts in his mouth that is defiles him, it is what comes out of the mouth that defiles (loosely paraphrased).
Imus, in his heart of hearts, believes this and that is how it came out.
I believe in freedom of speech but you have to enjoy this freedom with responsibility.
I don't care for the black comedians blue language and insults either but America keeps saying they have a right to say these things. I believe the Black community has addressed this issue many times to no avail. The average Black person does not condone Hip Hip filthy lyrics at all.
We need to get back to what is right and what is wrong in freedom of speech, and lose the grey areas. We have taken this "freedom" too far. I don't think the forefathers had this kind of freedom in mind.
As for Imus, I feel the apology and the 2 weeks suspension is appropriate. I don't think he needs to be fired. If everybody in America was fired for saying racist/genderhateful remarks no one would have a job.

Stupid...yes! Insensitive...yes! Worthy of this much attention...absolutely not! If we are going to witchhunt Imus, we need to be fair and urge Mr. Sharpton to demand that the record contracts of a large percentage of hip hop artists be negated. In interview after interview Mr. Sharpton is asked about the rapper issue and he repeatedly sidesteps the question like James Brown on crack! HIPPOCRITE!!!!!!!!!!
And as for any of you out there that try to label me a racist, I am married happily to a black woman. She agrees! Sharpton is a camera and show fee HOG!

it may seem like a small issue to the audience... but the censorship board may have weird views about it... we had a case in singapore, the RJ simply mentioned something like 'gals who wear white panty are decent & may be virgins' it created such an uproar that the RJ is now out of job and the radio station had to pay hefty fine...
yup we have weird audience & censorship boards...

I am not a politically correct guy.
But Imus called these female athletes "nappy-headed Ho's" -- I find it hard to understand why Al Sharpton is more upset about Imus calling them nappy-headed than he was about Imus calling them whores! --At least their coach is upset about him calling her team whores!
Both terms are wrong; but I would be angrier if some jerk called my sister or daughter a whore than nappy-headed.
He should be terminated.
