Exactly... Democracy in India is failed totally. There's no democratic rulers. Leaders are not leading us on right way... they only leads money to their homes. They only taking care of us once in a blue moon (say 5 years at the time of election) thenafter they disappears totally and stays invisible for loooong time.

I don't blame democracy but yes I am totally hopeless, sad and disgusted with Indian democracy.

Production of wheat is record-breaking this year but see in comparison of last year there's 25% raise in price of wheat. IT HAPPENS ONLY IN INDIA.

There are many many things to discuss about Indian democracy and that's not because I am hopeless to it but ITS REALITY.

Democracy is always effective, provided we as people are alert. We generally feel that democracy is just about casting a vote.

When a major political party holds the nation to ransom by not participating in parliamentary debates, that is the obstacle to democracy. They want to get elected on peoples vote through democracy, but perform exactly opposite to what they are supposed to. Because they know that nothing can be done once they are elected.

When political parties start debating on secularism , which is our accepted constitutional policy, (and rightly so), they are killing democracy.

When politics means caste or religion based manueverings to win an election, it is undemocratic.

We need to understand this all and save democracy, by rejecting these stumbling blocks to the success of the democratic pattern.

And by the way what other form are you proposing? Will the poor be better off if we have some self styled formation? I think in that case you will be the best choice to lead such a formation.

Democracy is not effective because its weak.

The thing is, you can't just blame the politicians.

You have to blame the public for choosing and voting for the Wrong politicians.

the public who can be easily bought by the money power of corrupt politician are to blame.

and some of the Careless citizens to blame for, who don't vote or do their duties as a citizen, which is to vote, kee local area clean, do volunteer work for community, help the needy, educate the poor, and help the government do their duty.

So...be a good citizen and do your duty and democracy will eventually be effective.

Indian democracy has been & remains the strongest & most effective in the world as all the basic requirements of an individuals freedom as propogated in democracy r prevalent.
Where else would u find such freedom of expression or freedom of movement?
What has gone wrong is the misuse of these freedoms heralded by a handful of wily politions for their own selfish ends.

our democracy is taking time... India is a vast country of 1bn people, it will take time. but it is not hopeless

Democracy is no longer effective in India because of corruption and abuses being committed by those in power.
