I live in this town and got placed back onto nightshift. I keep my bodyclock the same but am very bored.
What are some things that can be done (outside the barscene) to keep myself occupied with others?

If you've been put on the lateshift, you should probably be sleeping instead of trying to keep yourself occupied. The way to adjust your bodyclock is to change your sleeping patter. Sleep until it's time to go to work. Trust me, you're going to need it.

but if you need something to do, there are always late shows at movie theaters, bowling at the 7-10 bowling alley on Lincoln near Diversey or the bowling alley on Western Ave. near Addison (forgot the name ... Waveland I think). There is an all-night Starbucks on North Ave. and Wells. Second City has free improv shows after their regular shows on every day except Friday. The I/O comedy theater on Clark street near Wrigley Field has late night improv shows. There's the Green Mill jazz club with live music until 2 a.m. (you don't have to drink, you know). Lots of diners and restaurants are open then. Go there and start writing a book about late night in Chicago.

But seriously... change your bodyclock. You may even have to force yourself to sleep, but it's better than falling asleep on the job because you're trying to keep your bodyclock the same.
