99 Luft Balloons by Nena.
It was in german by you could recognize "Captain Kirk" when she said it.
She did an english copy for the states, but I liked the german one better.
David S. is right - the Russians make good music. It is very stirring to the soul.
But if I hear "Feliz Navidad" JUST ONE MORE TIME I may go postal at Christmas. This has nothing to do Mexicans - that song reaches down your spinal cord pulls it into a pretzel.

Well...when I first came to America from Shanghai because of my parents' job relocation, I heard the song 1985 playing, and I really liked it. It had a nice tune and everything...but I didn't really know what they were saying...I didn't understand a lot of English then

The Lambada, by Kaoma. (I think it's how it's spelled...duh.) They're Brazilian, and this is the coolest song ever. The album is called Worldbeat, and I just want to dance all over the place when I hear it. Sometimes I DO dance all over the place. (lol)

"?Con Que Pagaremos" by Fernando Ortega
Beautiful.
I don't speak Spanish, but loved the music, could figure enough words to catch the gist, and eventually got a friend to translate and now love it even more,,,
Great question...
(and I enjoy the scavenger hunts)
