Not too long. When I had braces, it wasn't a big deal, though. I just never wanted to deal with having them repaired 'cause it sucked so bad getting them put on.

I can't go too long without gum, but I smoke, so that's why. I had braces a few years ago and still chewed gum and stuff.

the gum thing is not a big deal. i lived without for 2 yrs and have the straight teeth to prove it. the candy thing, you'll figure out. some you can handle and some you can't.

truthfully, o can't go without gum for any longer than an hour. i chew it every day of every week everywhere. it is kinda a bad habit, but its also really hard to break. it makes me not hungry! hahah... so yeah not very long

gum i have managed to do without for 50 years
if by candy you mean chocolate ,i must admit that i am an addict
my friends have wanted to take me to chocolates anonymous but the problem is that i dont think i have problem
isnt that typical.

*** u know what? when i had braces...TWICE... i chewed gum all the time. u just have to find the ones that don't stick. i chewed excel...it didn't stick. some kinds are bad for gettin stuck all over the braces...others are fine.

When I had braces I always broke the rules. Things do get stuck in there.. try to tempt yourself every now and then.

I can go for several years because I hardly chew it. But if you have no exposure to it at all, you can go a lifetime.
