Some say the number 13 brings bad luck because there were 13 people at the Last Supper. There are several theories as to why 13’s considered to be unlucky. Unlucky 13 is a superstition which might go back to pre-Christian days as 13 was thought to be a sinister number in Norse mythology. This stems from a tale about a banquet held in Valhalla to which 12 Gods had been invited. Loki one of the most evil of the Norse gods wasn’t invited so he gatecrashed (making the number 13) and he caused the death of Balder, the god of light, joy and reconciliation. During the Middle Ages, the superstition against Friday 13th grew. Over time a large body of literature and folk lore has reinforced the belief. There is also a less superstitious and more rational explanation which says that statistical surveys for insurance companies showed that of any group of 13 one person would die within less than 12 months!

last supper, Templar betrayal yea both of them (though I never noticed the Templar betrayal in the Da vinci's code I'll read it harder next times)
And there's a connection between the moon cycle one full moon a month should be 12 full in a year now and then there's the blue moon, that's suppose to be unlucky because it's abnormal, 13th moon. I was going to mention more on the other two but you've already got the idea.

It actually relates back to the betrayal of the Templars by the crown and church. The orders for their betrayal were sealed and not to be opened until Friday 13th, which is where the 13 and Friday 13th come from, although 13 is also considered a powerfully magical number.

Because it is unlucky, I fell of a horse, got kicked in the head 13 times, I was married 13 times. I have 13 kids, none of them love me. So you see 13 is very unlucky .

Apart from what people are telling you about templar knights (which can be found in the DaVinci Code)it is also said that Instambul was conquered on May 13th. Also Ancient Greeks used to believe that ghosts used to come out on the 13th.

the king of France and the Pope had most if not all the Templar's in France during the Middle Ages killed for their money. They were a Royal order of Knights sworn to protect those who were there way to the Holy Lands. It was carried out on the 13th
