this has got to be the most asked question in the history of high school education in the philippines, right? ah, i've been fighting the system for a long time when it comes to bringing phones to school. I just don't get their point when they don't allow us to bring our phones... they go berserk when they find that we brought one as if it's a real threat to the people in the school... honestly... what could i do with a phone...? talk the teachers to death? yes, they should be allowed to use cell phones in school! the teachers are just so damn insecure that they don't want anything to distract their students from their oh-so-exciting lectures...

I think some rules should be stated, but loosely enforced.

No matter what you do, students will end up texting and using their phones.
However, with the loosely enforced rule of 'No Cell Phones'
students use their phones less frequently, put forth effort to make sure their phones are on silent (so they wont get taken away) and text secretly under desks and out of purses/pocket sparingly.

However if you were to permit cell phone use, then students would have their phones out all the time, there would be no need to really keep your phone on silent which would cause distractions, and it would just cause a general lack of focus.

I know this because i have classes where cell phones are a complete taboo, where cellphones arnt allowed but people answer texts every once in a while anyway, and where the teacher doesnt mind if we have them out on our desks. So ive seen each scenerio.

Only should have 2 buttons for emergency, one to parents and the other 911. I don't think children should have phones like we carry, because it distracts them form school work, and may be involved in some crime or involved in cheating on exams or so. When I was a kid we only had pay phones and in case of emergency we go to main office to report one. It that simple. What is wrong with talking face to face, than text messaging. Kids are going to be speaking in slang and writing or typing in slang other than the way we were taught how to speak, read, and write English. If you don't believe me just look on any computer blog, this page, and so forth. They multi-abbreviate words all together now and they don't make sense any more.

no i dont think so if theyre still in preschool and high school and i odnt think the treachers allow students use or talk on the cell phones during the school hours ? some schools does have rules about kids bringin cellphones to classes . but if it something really happen to one of youre kids that they needed to reach their parents yes that will okay but youre kids must tell the teachers first about having cell phone in classes . must be turn off or put on vibertor when theyre in classes still .

In my opinion, they should be allowed to use cell phones. But there should be rules in using them and they should have limited amount of load. Cell phones also help students to communicate to their parents if they need something for example materials for project. And to communicate to classmates for example if they miss a class and they need to know the homeworks.

For actual emergency situations, yes i think they should. but overall just wanting to talk to friends in another class, no i dont. It will detract from the learning environment that is greatly needed at there age. now say inbetween classes or lunch break i think they should, becuase it is not during a class, therefore, a learning environment is not created.

Not during class. What they do during lunch is their business, but I think it will cause problems and cheating with all the text messaging. Leave them off.
