I was readin somewhere that a guy cut the frame of a longbed right behind the cab and got a shortbed and just welded it together. Is this possible and would it be sturdy? What would to be done to complete the project besides the welding? I know people are gonna say its not worth it jus buy a shortbed, i jus wanna know.

hmm LOTS of stuff would have to be done all lines (brake, gas) the drive train (the drive shaft would probably be easiest) all would have to be shortened . the frame of course would have to be trued so off comes everything . yeah lots of work it is possible but ALOT of work if you were doing it yourself i would suggest seeing if a short bed would fit with trimming the rear of the frame (not always possible as the wheel wells might not fit and a whole bunch of other problems could arise ) but it MIGHT save you work . All in all I would say unless you have your own garage fitted with ALL the proper tools buying a new truck would be easier you also didn't specify what kind of truck what model and year the truck is.
generally the best option is to buy a new truck .

you would haft to get the right measurements for the drive shaft long beds and short beds have different wheel base .I would add a couple steel plates where the frame connects for extra support
