I already own an xbox360 but without a modchip.I wanted to know if the xbox 360 will start to overheat or will freeze or will show hardware problems after we install a modchip into it.

And a last question......Are modchips legal???????

The modchip itself is 'legal', if you intend to use it to play import games. Having pirated copies of games is very illegal.

As for modding one, I don't recommend it. I heard they catch fire.

First off, most mod chip makers work very hard trying to solve those issues. I recommend "X-ecuter" series. I have never modded a 360 but if the issues are the same then you will possibly have hardware problems, but there are bound to be. For the overheating issue you can get a 15 dollar cooler that plugs in your USB port.

I have also read somewhere that if you mod your 360 you cant do the updates. So some of the newer games won't work.

As for Mod chips being legal, they ARE, but installing them and changing the firmware of your 360 is not legal.

Over all if you want to mod your 360 buy a new one and mod the old one. After all the new "Xbox 360 Elite" is coming out and its pretty.
