Chief Justice Earl Warren swore JFK into office.

Kenedy was in Massachusetts when he was announced president. He was probably staying at a hotel in Boston. The results were not known until the next morning -- so it is possible that he was out on Cape Cod.

As for past presidents who were there -- Eisenhower, Truman and Hoover were likely in attendance. They were the only past presidents alive at the time. Future presidents who were there were LBJ (who was sworn in as VP) and Nixon (who was the outgoing VP).

Ford and GHW Bush could have been there -- but probably were not. If GHW Bush was there -- he might have brought his son -- who would have been a teenager. It is unlikely that Carter, Reagan, Clinton were there.

JFK was sworn in by Justice Earl Warren.
"Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson is at right. Holding the Bible at center is James R. Browning, clerk of the U.S. Supreme Court. Richard M. Nixon stands at far right."
