Lonliness is that empty feeling that fills your heart whether you are alone or not. As humans, we have an emotional need to connect to other humans and when we don't connect often enough or correctly, lonliness occurs. I believe all humans (and animals too) get lonely some of the time. Some people get lonely quite a lot because it is a part of their personality to dwell on lonliness and/or because they are prone to bad relationships. Despair sometimes goes hand in hand with lonliness but includes other areas of your life as well, it is when you feel like there is absolutely nothing in the world that matters, and there is no joy and nothing can bring you joy, no matter the $; It is when you feel that there is nothing new to discover that will bring passion or feeling into your life. There is nothing to look forward to, noone to share with, and sometimes you feel there is no reason to go on living.

Despair is the opposite of hope. It is the lowest a person's soul can sink.

Do not confuse it with depression. Depression is the lowest a person's confidence can sink. Depression can lead to despair, but depression is fixable. Despair is not.

Loneliness is the opposite of togetherness. It is that empty feeling when you want someone else to be around.

Do not confuse it with solitude. Solitude is a desired being alone. Artists create in solitude. Solitude ends at the alone person's whim. Lonely people often see no end to their loneliness until someone decides to stick around.
