I look at your profile picture and you appear to be too young to have cataracts but it is always possible because there are babies that are born with them.
They may have already been there and you just didn't notice the problems until you started having this irritation and watering.
When you describe halos and cloudy vision, this is what patients with cataracts complain of this very symptom.
It is possible that you are just tearing up and unable to clear up the tear film which does contain and "oil" substance and you could be getting an infection.
The only way to know for sure just what your problem is,is to see an Eye Doctor.

you could have open angle glaucoma. This is serious because it is putting pressure on the optic nerve. Don't delay getting treatment because if it is this damage is irreversible but they can stop further damage from occurring. Since this sounds like something that has just happened and not gradually occurring I would get to an opthalmologist ASAP maybe even go to the hospital. (though I am not sure if they would treat this or how they would). Do you have diabetes? You could be predisposed to getting some of the more serious eye disorders. In anycase if you have insurance then I would get seen immediately. Better safe than blind! Good Luck. PS I looked in my nursing book and the big thing with glaucoma is halos around lights. I remember them stressing that in lecture. I did not see anything else that had halos specifically in the disorder symptoms. But I am not a doctor and I know there is much for me to learn still, but here is a starting point for you. Also, don't rub your eyes, you'll only irritate them more and if something were in your eye it would scratch it with rubbing. You can pour water over your eye to flush it out.

Coming from dark place to a bright light, forces the eyes to change the size of the pupil of your eyes for a minute or two to protect it and the pupils also changes to become bigger in order to be able to see better in a darker place and the other reason is to check you might have light cataract.

Might be cataracts, but in any event should be checked out by an ophthalmologist.
