Death itself, The Grim Reaper. They were supposed to die on the plane but since they got off they cheated Death his duty to take them. So he takes them anyway. It's Death's Design. IT's explained rather well in the movie. :-)

it's called destiny. if u r destined to die then u will die no matter how much u try to avoid it. if it's your turn then u r going to go no matter what. movie or not this is something i believe. good movies by the way.

Its suppose to be fate/death himself.

Since all those people where suppose to die, "fate" or "death" is trying to kill them all to balance out the universe.
