By far the most famous Beatle (not beetle)is Paul McCartney.
I was reading somewhere he has something like 85 albums that are Gold or Platnum.
But then the best Beatle has to be a matter of opinion.
I was a big Beatle fan backin the day. When they broke up I stayed loyal to John Lennon. And I still think he was the front man to the Beatles. We lost a great humanitarian when he was shot.

Probably the most famous was John, mostly cause even if you didn't like him, most people knew who he was because he was killed and that brings automatic media attention.
Most successful out of all of them though, as a solo artist, is definitely Paul. Why else? He has done so much on his own and with other artists, with true talent.

A lot of people will say John Lennon, but I didn't personally like his politics and didn't particularly care for his voice. I loved George Harrison's music but he didn't produce a lot after leaving the Beatles. I have seen Paul McCartney twice and both times his music was phenomenal ... he is a great musician, fair singer and fantastic composer. If you get the opportunity you should go to a McCartney concert...since the death of George he has started performing a lot of the old Beatles' songs and his current band plays that music so much better then the original band did...and some of his music from Wings is incredible.

The most famous was John.
Best solo artist was (by far, without a doubt, hands DOWN) George Harrison.

the most popular would probably be John, but as for the best solo artist? John was the best, but Paul was the most successful.

Lennon was the most well known.
You'll get different answers for the second part, but most of them will be either John or Paul.

Its spelled "Beatle". I think John Lennon was the more well known, who knows, had he lived, what popularity he would have today. I loved his solo music, however, when Paul was with Wings, I think he had more hits, so I guess you could call it a toss of the coin!

Paul McCartney stands alone in the post-Beatle success category. Clues to who really called the band to split, I think, are in how they carried on after their painful break-up: Paul never really stopped--he kept going on and on; George had a few one pop hit wonders.....and kinda blended into obscurity.....as did Ringo. John kinda flowed with his bride Yoko---and the pair....well.....kinda just "floated" along.
