If you do not owe any taxes and are due a refund, then you would not get in trouble for filing your taxes late. You actually have 3 years to claim a refund. Hopefully you will be able to get another copy of your W2 forms real soon from your employers so that you can file your return. They should not have a problem giving you another one. But, if you can't get them by April 17th, then do not stress about it because you will not be charged a penalty for late filing if you don't owe the IRS any money. :)

How funny or sad is your intention?.
Every lawful residence of this country has to file the tax return at the end of every year, whether or not you owe to the IRS.
If you know what is W-2 or Income Taxes, I am pretty sure that you are quite aware about IRS's regulations and policies too!!. Then why you are making a fool of yourself by asking such naive questions on a public board.
Yes, the IRS will be after you for the rest of your life, if you do not file the return in due time every year, you will have to pay penalty for not filing. If you are a lawful resident of America (any states in US), you will recieve a letter from IRS with warning and penalty details. Every single day counts after the tax filing deadline, day after day, the IRS will charge you interest rate if you owe money, if you do not owe, they will take you for a ride for not doing your tax...?. The longer you delay, the stronger the punishment, interestingly, your penalty and punishment will go up further, if you owe money to IRS.
Saying that the W-2 form is nowhere to be found is just silly. Sorry!!.

If you owe more than 6,0000 dollars for the tax year you need to file. If you do not the IRS will send you a letter and you have to send tax returns in and pay a penalty for being late. If you are under six then send the letter back to explain. You could order your w-2's.

Call you employer(s) and try to get a duplicate W-2. The IRS will penalize you for not filing. You will not have to pay penalty and interest for failure to pay if the IRS owes you a refund but you will have to pay a fine for failure to file. You have almost a week. Git R Done!

No, since you don't owe anything, but you wouldn't get your refund. Call the employers who sent you the W-2's and get duplicates, then file - there won't be a penalty for filing late since you don't owe anything.
