My disposal wasn't turning, so I unplugged it, did the broom handle trick to free the blades, then (and I think this is where I f'ed up...) I hit the reset button before I plugged it in. So, when I plugged it in, it started running, but won't stop unless I unplug it. Do I need to somehow get the reset button popped out, or what?!?!

Did you plug the unit back into the SAME receptacle? I have seen the dual wall receptacle, where one is on a switch, and the other is hot all the time. Try unplugging from the one outlet, and plug it into the other. I bet this is your problem! Good luck! You can use a 1/4" allen wrench in the bottom center, to free a stuck disposal.

I wouldn't think that pushing the reset button while unplugged would cause the disposal to run constantly. While the problem could be an internal part of the disposal, my first instinct is to suspect the wall switch. Does the wall switch snap into place when turned on/off, or is it "Loose"? If the problem is the wall switch it is easy and inexpensive to change out, just turn off the circuit first. If the problem does seem to be the disposal, try repeating the process of resetting and unplugging. If this fixes it, it is probably going to be a reoccurring problem. Good Luck

all you should need to do is replace the switch...turn breaker off remove switch and replace with new one....turn power back on...should solve your problem.....you can do this yourself...easy job to do...be sure and replace old switch with a heavy duty switch that has a higher amp rating
