I blame Al Sharpton for making a big stink out of it. Al doesn't put out the flames of racism...he FANS them...like he's trying to instigate a riot.
I think Imus seems sincere and this whole thing's been WAY overblown by people that most likely never listened to his show in the first place.
As far as Sharpton..he stuck his nose in this, made an issue for his radio program, and it helped his advertisers a lot! I think he's a bigger scumbag and even a bigger RACIST than Imus.

IMUS... He said he was sorry but the "Ministers", so called men of God, will not accept his apology. I for one don't think he should even have apologized, the comment was not that far out there. AND Rev. Sharpton, I think we could go back to 1981 and find you right in the middle of a case where a black girl was speared with feces, the N word written on her and a whole lot more. This girl said a bunch of cops did this to her. How is it that YOU were the one in trouble? Hey, sleuths, do some homework, look this up, then tell me about who should be making demands about Imus being fired - or - for that matter - making any demands about anything. Oh, and Jesse, you are such a hater, I am surprised you have any followers. The problem with all the answers here is that no-one is old enough to remember this stuff. The Sharptons and Jacksons of this day are the ones that not only hate White people but want to make sure that Black people don't REALLY get ahead. One way to do this is to make everyone that they can get to fall for it a "victim". Woe is me, has worked for years, not only in this country but everywhere "leaders" want to keep their followers in place.

Imus, until you start rapping and spouting all that hate, you are free to make little silly comments all you like.

I think that if Ann Coulter had called them "hos", it wouldn't have caused so much controversy, because that's the type of thing you'd expect from her. But Don Imus is a few steps higher up on the ladder of evolution than Coulter and he is not a comedian. He’s the moderator of a news show. To quote the TV Guide info on Time -Warner Cable, " Political figures, journalists and news makers discuss current events." This belies his statement that he hosts a comedy show. And the fact that a person of his stature would say something like this about a group of remarkable young ladies for no reason at all, must have really hurt them at a time when they deserved to be enjoying their victory. I think that is the thing about this affair that you can’t change. Imus robbed them of their celebration and left dismay and disappointment in his wake. If you think this is being over dramatic, think of how you’d feel if he’d called your daughter a funny looking whore for no other reason than her being a member of a winning team.

I think Imus made a mistake. He apologized. Then he apologized again and again. I think to drag this out any longer is just politics and people like Al Sharpton pursuing a political agenda. Imus' comment was just a little joke / observation. It wasn't right, but, neither is all this big reaction by a lot of people who hear far worse in rap music, movies, and from comedians.

The media always concentrates on the negative. The Coach and the team should have concentrated on their great season. They had a great team, played very well and deserved to be in the final game and instead they wine about what a over rated louse says on air? Nobody can take success away from you! If you deserve it, its yours. The coach should be dressed down. As for Don, forget it. He will and we will. Jessie and Al do not speak for anyone and will be ignored by just about everybody. Lets instead talk about the great year of womens college basketball we had and I am not even a big fan of basketball but saw my first game this year.

Don Imus is a racist...AND anyone who thinks otherwise is probably the same..Imus should be fired...A two week's paid vacation, just isn't enough punishment...We wouldn't even own up tothe magnitude of his words...

AND by the way, the word gigabo, is a very old and deep rooted racist slur...With very deep hatred attached to it.

I remember an episode of Imus, when he was supporting that guy (Pinky somebody) who ran for Governor of Texas...And the dude's theme song, which was played on the show, had all kinds of racial stuff in it...!!!!

it's his opinion and he is entitled to it. If people don't like it and are so offended - then stop listening to his show. People who want to look for trouble will take anything and say it was racial or that they were sooo offended by others comments... but seriously if they wanted to be that picky they could find an 'offense' in every person on the radio or tv... and then nobody will be able to say anything-- because someone might get offended if they say "hello.. it's a sunny day here in california".. and they wouldn't want the goth kids to go up in arms now would they?

There needs to be something addressed about racism. However, the rap artist that discriminate all ethnic people are wrong - by portraying African American woman the wrong way; however, this is broadcast on radio stations all through out college campus - no one seems to get offended.

Sorry, we'd want to continually only settle for that we are all going to face worse than hell, NON-life, no remember how we act in this life. then we may be able to sense thoroughly shelter understanding that if we do rape some women human beings, that's not morally incorrect as there is not any such aspect as morality. in reality, had it no longer been more suitable powerful to rape women human beings, evolution does no longer have placed the want to finish that. Oh, no longer a honest evaluation of your beliefs, yet you imagine your evaluation of the beliefs of others is honest? reality is that your idiotic evaluation demonstrates your lack of ability to truthfully use logical reasoning skills. you opt to imagine God exists, yet God does no longer have the powers that a God must have and then instruct a contradiction. Now shall we extremely assume God exists, gave us life, gave us eternal life and gave us a technique for attainment of heaven by only accepting his present. That type of God has no opt to provide us some thing, that God did not even opt to provide us life, yet that God did. So your evaluation to someone who's doing no longer some thing yet taking, ais actual absurd. the idea that you've a ideal to judge this God, is absurd. Now the different is that God would not exist. to that end, you're absurdly talking about the evil danger of a few thing that would not even exist. Now i'm no longer a Christian. i do no longer have self assurance that folk pass to hell for eternity. They stay interior the hell the create for themselves for thus long as they opt to settle for hatred over love and resentment over forgiveness. yet I do like, appreciate and attempt to persist with the teachings of Christ. i locate them to be a ways more suitable powerful than the ignorant bashing of persons's beliefs, with out even the effortless decency to position your own beliefs up for scrutiny. Who is conscious, your perception would nicely be tremendous and help mankind, yet as long as you busy your self with bashing others, you're only exhibiting your valueless bigotry. Edit: more suitable, lower than the perception you probable carry, each little thing is dictated by chemical and actual procedures jointly with all we do and have self assurance, accordingly no freewill. we are only the position we were destined to be from the initial configuration of the large Bang. So obviously the irony of you bashing human beings for believing what (by your faith) they must have self assurance, is in problem-free words lost on you because you also might want to act and imagine interior the type you're at present appearing and questioning.
