On the NFL Network Pacman said alot of his trouble was because he had them and people steriotyped him for that...that black NFL players with them are considered criminals. What a sappy comment.

First let me say that I am NOT racist in ANY way, I am only speaking my true mind about the subject. A lot of NFL players (the NBA has even more) come from the hood. At a young age they found football or basketball or baseball and tried to get good at it so that they could get out of the hood. Because of that a lot of them had to adapt to life in the hood, and stayed that way in the NFL. Like Lenny B said, a lot of these players also get big egos after having a good season or two, and due to that they feel as if they are above the law. I remember a while ago there was a player who got arrested and said to the police "Don't you know who I am?" as if just because he is a football player he can do things others can't. That said, it's actually sadly a bit true that they can do things other "normal" people can't.

Although I find the first answer to sound a bit racy (or racist, you decide)... that answer is probably on the mark..
I'm a white male, but I'm a punk rocker, so I usually have outrageously colored hair, or sometimes a mohawk. When I drive around out in the country, where my parents live, I get pulled over all the time, for reasons that are shaky at best.
When I drive around in the city, where I live, the cops don't bat an eye. I don't "fit the description", because I'm white. If I were to drive around with a black friend of mine, however, that raises instant red flags to the cops.. they think it's a drug deal in progress. Also, if I drive through a predominantly black neighborhood, I'm very likely to get pulled over, because the cops assume I'm only there to pick up drugs.
SO - Long story short, cops will hassle people who they perceive to be "up to no good", based on appearance alone. Black people probably get hassled twice (or more!) as much as white people. Dreadlocks only up the ante.
It makes me sad. I choose to look the way I do, and I accept the consequences that come with it. Black people didn't choose to be born black, yet they still have to deal with the police looking at them like they did something wrong. I know how that feels, and it sucks. But I can get a haircut if I want..
The system generally sucks, unless yer a rich white republican. We have the power to change the system, but it will take time.
In closing - Get out there and vote! We might not see a wholesale change in our lifetimes, but baby steps in the right direction are better than no steps at all.

Thats too broad of a question, Mike Mckenzie has dreads and he has no law troubles at all!!! GEAUX SAINTS!!! So does Jamal jones......you need to narrow that down a bit...

so players without dreads dont have trouble? hmm.. maybe you remember only the ones with dreads is because you hardly ever see people with dreads.. but then again.. maybe theres a connection between dreads, bob marley, and ganja that gets people riled up so they tend to get into more trouble..

Because they are black. And.....most football players orginated from a bad neighbourhood where there was alot of crime and because they had a talent, they made it to be a star. They can't help their backgrounds, it just unfortunate but blacks have a history.
