Not real conservatives. The neo-cons, yes. They've made their contempt for the Constitution and the rule of law crystal clear.

I am a conservative and the correct answer is no. He has served two terms, the maximum allowed under the Constitution. In January 2009, it will be time for President Bush to leave office and a new President to be sworn in. There is no clause in the Constitution allowing the President to serve another term because of a war. President Bush really has no choice in the matter, it will be time for him to leave in January 2009, whether he likes it or not.

Hidden some where in the Patriot Act must be some statement that would permit Bush to stay in office beyond 2009!

Some would. Those that walk in lockstep just like good little lemmings would have no problem with George the dictator.

Regardless of what the Constitution says he has managed, through his rubber stamp Congress, made it so he could simply declare martial law and suspend the election until the war is over. Congress would be moot and he would do as he pleases.

He does not have a choice. Also he is a decent man who will know that he has served in the way the people and the constitution have stated. He will leave office with much more class tha did the perosn he replaced. I cannot forsee any vandalism of the White House being tollerated as happened as was in 2001.

Ah yes, another Republican coup. Reagan tried to run a gov't inside the gov't by defying the Boland Amendment and giving money to the contras that he got selling arms to Iran.
Didn't work out so well (see Iran/Contra).
Bush declaring martial law because we're fighting a war against a concept. Interesting.

The republican party would split into pieces. There would be parts that would support bush, then there would be the Christian Right, probably supporting bush as well. Then we have the McCain type guys. we would have a destroyed Republican party, and the democrats would oust Bush according to Lockean principles, upon which this country has been founded.

It is not a matter of deciding to leave or not, it is called elected into office. But for the sake of your question, I wish Bush could stay in office, he is doing a good job. I think the conservatives would back him, they are not stupid.
