This quote is very often attributed to Voltaire, but it more than likely was his publisher that said it to Voltaire. Voltaire never said anything this straight forward in his life.

I am thinking that it might be a revolutionary period politician, maybe Jefferson or Franklin. I may be completely wrong though.
