Use blocks of Styrofoam and slide a wooden rode through all of them. Attach the blocks to a round base and then carve your shape at the top of the blocks while making the gradation from top to bottom. Use the dimensions and pictures on the link to decide the size.

Good Luck.

Foam? I am trying to think and I dont know what kind of foam you can make something out of..

But anyways, matchsticks and popcicle sticks are goods, maybe even tape.

Get some glue and just build upward, and/or modify any parts of them that you would need for the very top of it. With tape you can just literally use a bunch of tape to make a solid thing, in this case, the Washington Monument.

I would suggest you try building it with balsa wood or with matte board; both can be found in an art supply store but the matte board is probably cheaper and Can be either colored with markers & pens or found in colors.

After that all you need to do is try to make a foundation like the scale railroad modellers would for a diorama. As it is I don't think I can do any better than this as it is a skinny box pointed at the top. Good luck!

how tall is the washington monument??? and what exactly are you asking? How tall his model should be? 37 feet=1 inch so # of feet the washington monument is=how many inches? how many times does 37 ft go into height of washington monument? (let x represent #) 1 times x=height of model. hope you understand it. (truth is, i'm not sure if I would, but you didn't give alot of information) Next time give the full equation and be clear about what you're asking.

Here's a site that has one made out of paper to scale. You could get this model and use the measurements to adapt to one you make out of foam.
