I believe the average height of women in North America was 5'3. I'm not sure about Europe. But 5'6 is not short for a woman.

I found a few sites, they say that the average American woman is 5'4" to 5'6", so you are average. I don't know the average for Europe.

I am 5'0 tall...does that make you feel any better. You're not short. The average female is 5'5 or 5'6 (around that...) I hope me telling you my height makes you feel a little bit taller. lol!

For a female you are actually on the average to tall side, 5'4" is average.
