how do i ask my mom for a bra?

Question

live with dad and stepmom.
13 years old.
go there enough to get a bra.
but we dont go to the mall that often.

how can i bring it up casually, not straight out mom i want a bra.
how did you ask your mom?

Go with your friends and get one or just say to the stepmom, 'would you be able to take me out shopping soon, I need to get a bra'.

This part sounds dumb, but it helps---say that sentance a few times to yourself, then say it a few times out loud a few different ways. Sometimes, if I do that, I can say it more comfortably -like I dont have a problem saying those things- then the person listening to me, feels comfortable and we dont have a 'strained' conversation.

Oh and dont blow your whole allowance on one bra at VS's! Especially if you really dont have too much to put in a bra. They will charge you about $40 for one bra. You can get some really cute ones anywhere! I swear, Wal Mart has some super cute ones, Target, shoot-even Sears. All the 'cheaper' stores want to compete with the big name designers, so they make cute stuff at reasonable prices, like $14 is expensive! ha ha!

Just tell her. Sometimes parents don't realize how grown up you're becoming. I remember my mother laughed-bless her heart, and then I told her that someone had commented that my nipples where showing through my blouse and she couldn't get me to a store fast enough. You can shop on line if necessary. And if you think it is time, it is time. Sounds like it's time to get a good relationship going with your stepmom. Most women remember the day they asked for that first bra. Your stepmom should remember.

don't tell her. show her. put on clothes you wore when you were like 7 or 8...like the tightest tshirts you can find. then go bouncing around the house. believe me they will notice.
if they won't say anything to you about it, start doing stuff out in the yard or down the street in those same tight clothes...they will realize it. if none of that works, when you have dinner, sit really close to the table, and just mention casually that your back has been hurting from playing volleyball or some other jumping kind of exerciase at school and that one of your friends told you that you needed a bra.
of course in 20 years, you will wish you never started wearing one, but you are young...so do what you got to do.

Say "Step-mom, I think we need to make a special trip to the mall soon. The time has come for me to buy a bra and I really need your advise on picking one out". This way, you are acknowledging her as a roll model for yourself and you really trust her judgement. Sucking up in a way so she'll overlook any of your embarrassment and shell out the money you need to buy it!!

She is your mother, she will realize what you need and what you want. There is a clear difference between them and getting a bra is far from being a want, its a NEED! Just tell her! You won't get in trouble for asking...she's your mom!

I had the same situation with my mom
It happens because moms sometimes are busy and because they think that we're going to be little girls all the time.. from eleven to thirteen there are only two years between and the time pass go by very soon and it's very significant and important to us as a young ladies those important early years of adolescence. Don't worry.. Just find a moment when your mom is at home , preferably on the morning so she can take you to the mall at noon or at the evening, but you can tell that important matter to your mom on any quiet moment of the day, It can be on Saturday morning or evening Friday. Tell her something like that..
-- Mom.. please.. would you like to give me just a very special moment.. It is very important to me.. please..
Mom.. I need to be presentable at church and at school and that's because I really need to wear my complete young lady underware.. I need a teenage bra.. a teen's bra.. according with my age ..
I know that you can help me with that because you're always wearing the properly wear all the time and you are really a good mom to me .. taking always good care for me..
If your mom still doesn't want to take you to buy your first and very necessary bra..

(and when you and your mom are get there.. and you know what it's your correct size, take 2 more bras not only the one you measure up because you will need more than one bra as every normal young girl and you can be calm about this important matter )

I know how it is the first time but its a wonderful expereince of discovering womenhood.So take along a good friend or even your step mom if she is okay.Also if you goto an exculsive lingerie store the first time,they will help you find a good fit.
