That's really nasty. The smell must be overwhelming, not to mention the maggots and flies.
I had a room mate a long time ago, that left his dishes in the sink too. One day the other roomies and myself took all of his stinking dishes and placed them on his bed and shut the door. He didn't come home for two days, and the smell when he opened the door was enough to knock you over. He never left so much as a fork in the sink after that.

I don't think that's responsible. I think it's expected and you can't really give kudos for something you should be doing. If you did hers too (which i don't recommend. I wouldn't) you'd be more responsible, because you wanted a home that was clean and would go above and beyond. I guess that would make you extraordinary.
Ask her: since she doesn't do her dishes if she'd consider paying you if you did hers??
Why not make a couple extra bucks if you're already cleaning yours???

Honestly, if someone doesn't do the dishes in a timely manner you will have mold spores floating around the air, rats and mice running around and bugs too. You'd be more responsible to tell her to clean her act up or get her own place.
Congrats for being able to clean up after yourself. Nothing like babysitting another adult who can't do their own work.

Definitely ... to teach her some responsibility, you may want to put her dirty dishes in her bedroom... that might wake her up!
I LOVE washing dishes when I'm drunk too! So much more fun, actually any housework, except for that one time I vacummed up the cord to the lamp, oops!

Office Depot has rental agreements you can purchase and customize to your rental situation. I recommend telling your roommate that it's time to sign a rental agreement.
I learned this lesson the hard way. Now, whenever I rent out a room in my house, I always start with a rental agreement.

After giving her repeated opportunities to correct her bad habit, I would start to look for another roommate. I for one would not accept such behavior. I don't know Alex do you like being a doormat? Sometimes you have to stand up and shout "this is bullshit and i'm not going to take it anymore."
That's what I would do.

You are not responsible... get a dog, let it lick her dishes clean, put them in her cupboard and see if she notices.
